Two Experiences - Rickshaw Man and Dogs

January 2014

I saw God last night standing by his cycle rickshaw. He looked somewhat emaciated in his tattered loincloth as he bent over and gently began feeding a street dog.

In front of Golconde I saw a gentle dog in his last stages of life. His black coat now nothing more than loose skin over desiccated bones which once was a fine silken black before he was abandoned. He looked at me with eyes sunk deep into his skull. It was a look I shall never forget for in it was all the sorrow and betrayal of man to the animal world and his fellow men.

Lord, cleanse us from the impurities of our hearts, abolish the ego so dominant in our lives, help us to surrender this small and puny self that we may recognize the divinity that dwells in us. Increase our aspiration for the truth, our sincerity on the path, our devotion and our love for Thee.
